THE PERSON BEHIND THE SHORTLIST

Simon Parker

Editor of Rock Tumblers

I want this site to make the equipment side of a fascinating hobby feel less opaque. A good buying guide should leave you with fewer unanswered questions, not a longer shopping list.

Three questions guide this publication.

01

What are you actually buying?

A machine name does not tell you everything about a package. I want the barrel configuration, included grit, replacement parts and limitations to be clear before a reader follows a buying link.

02

Will the pieces work together?

My interest is in the connections between products: a replacement lid that fits, a refill appropriate to the process, a kit whose contents support the intended task. These details are easy to overlook in a crowded listing.

03

What will ownership ask of you?

Space, cleaning, sound, consumables and maintenance belong in the decision. I prefer coverage that explains those tradeoffs plainly instead of treating the largest bundle as the obvious winner.

Why the site is organized around a bench

The tumbling bench is an editorial idea: put the relevant pieces side by side and examine how they relate. Machines have one place, consumables another, and spare parts their own. That structure helps a reader move from a broad interest to a specific buying question.

This is the kind of publication I want to edit: focused enough to be useful, patient about terminology and honest when a product detail still needs checking. A beginner should not need to decode unexplained jargon to understand a recommendation.

What belongs here

Rotary and rock-compatible vibratory tumblers, grit, polish, media, rough and the components that keep a machine serviceable. Coverage can also explain how to compare kits and interpret specifications. It is not a replacement for the operating instructions supplied with your equipment.

What a recommendation should earn

A product should make sense for the stated reader and task. Research, manufacturer claims, customer reports and direct testing are different kinds of evidence. Personal experience or testing should only appear when it actually occurred, and commercial relationships should be visible.

Some purchases made through links may support the site through affiliate commissions. You can read the disclosure and editorial policy before using the recommendations.

A detail worth checking?

Send me the article, exact model and your question at contact@rocktumblers.reviews. A clear correction with a manufacturer source is especially useful.
